Our impact

Our work ranges from the development of latest Bluetooth technology, WiFi, NB-IoT, to 4G/5G and beyond. We understand the challenges of growing demand of higher frequency requirements, shrinking footprints, higher integration density and lower fabrication cost while trying to optimizing our solutions that fit the current market trend.

Work directions

01

RF Transceiver

LThe RF Transceiver team at Spreadtrum develops transceivers that meet the stringent requirements of the latest 5G standards. Facing the challenges of ever-increasing complexity of radio transmission techniques defined by cellular standards organizations, we strive to make the most efficient use of the available frequency spectrum, while maintaining competitive cost, low power consumption, and robust manufacturability. Have witnessed the great development of cellular communication technology, which evolved from only allowing voice calls 40 years ago to enabling a wide range of applications nowadays, our experienced designers of RF integrated circuits are eager and ready to face any challenges rising in the 5G era.

02

RFIC Development

Spreadtrum’s RFIC PD team develops commercial products for the wireless communications industry, from early conceptualization stage, all the way to a high performance and low cost product capable of shipping in hundreds of millions of units to meet any customer’s requirements. We are involved on every phase of the development process: design for testability, design for manufacturability, wafer fabrication, package assembly, design validation, reliability qualification, production test development, yield analysis and optimization, final data sheet and product release. We deliver devices with excellent performance so that our end customers do not ever have to think about us, just simply enjoy their experience with our products.

03

RF PA/FEM

Our RF lab team focuses on research and development of commercial RF power amplifier front end module for wireless mobile device applications, such as cellular phone. We have a team of experienced engineers talented in successful designs of RF systems with hundreds of millions of units shipped. We have extensive experience in operating state-of-the-art RF lab with various equipment including K&S IConn automated bonder, laser trim probe station, ADT automated dicing machine etc. We aim to develop and provide total RF front end solutions with highly competitive performances for next generation wireless mobile devices.

04

Wi-Fi

The Wi-Fi team aims to deliver seamless connectivity solutions for always connected experiences. We provide high performance, power-efficient and reliable Wi-Fi solutions, which is ideal for consumer, enterprise and IoT applications. Our products of Wi-Fi 5, 6/6E and future Wi-Fi 7 are designed to deliver blazing fast speed and massive capacity to meet today’s and tomorrow’s crushing demand, which you can count on to stay connected anywhere, anytime, and with anyone.

05

Multi-Media

The Multimedia team develops novel computer vision and computational photography algorithms for mobile phones, including camera calibration and registration, depth generation, 3D reconstruction and biometric recognition. We also explore practical and advanced solutions for segmentation, objects classification and detection. We design and build image processing pipelines, and evaluate imaging system performances. Our goal is to deliver the most powerful image processing techniques to customers, and bring them the best experiences with the camera on their phones. We keep track of the most advanced technologies in industry and apply them to low-cost and high-efficiency mobile applications.

06

CPU

The CPU team develops the most advanced and sophisticated processors required for cellphones, IoTs, and data centers. We have our own CPU technologies, including in-order and out-of-order design, big and little design, support for multi-core and multi-cluster, and so on. We are one of the three ARM Architecture licensed designer in the world, and our brilliant track record includes developing the world first ARM based SMT (Simultaneously Multi-Threads) CPU. While the new open source RISC-V architectures gain the mass momentum in the world, our team started to develop RISC-V based devices so that we can be part of the front runners. So far we have developed RISC-V MCU for IoTs and now developing the more sophisticated RISC-V CPUs for automobiles, servers, and communication devices and tools.
