We specialize in the design, development, testing and marketing of RF transceivers, computational algorithm, and computer vision targeted for multimedia, mobile and cellular applications. Our principal office is located in San Diego, California. We also operate in San Jose, Greensboro and Chicago. Overall 90% of our employees are engaged in R&D activities.
Our Story
Spreadtrum Communications, USA was founded in 2003. As a startup, the team in San Diego focused on designing and marketing RF transceivers for cellular applications.
With over 20+ years of establishment and development, we are proud to be one of the leading companies in the field of mobile communications, RFIC and IoT solutions that serves the mobile handset manufacturers industry.

2009
Spreadtrum released the first 3G RF device supporting GPRS/EDGE/WCDMA standards.
2010
Spreadtrum WCDMA RF transceiver was selected by Samsung for their 3G handset designs.
2011
Spreadtrum released a TD-SCDMA solution customized to meet Chinese 3G requirements.
2014
Spreadtrum released the first 4G LTE transceiver.
2019
Spreadtrum released the first 5GNR transceiver.
2021
Spreadtrum released the second generation 5GNR transceiver for low power and high performance applications.
By June 2022
The company has shipped over 2 billion transceivers covering all different standards in mobile communications, including 5G NR.
