FPGA Design Engineer
Developing FPGA solutions for the control and data interfaces to the device under test, as part of a design validation (lab test) set-up for cellular transceiver RFICs, and providing support to the test engineers for programming and testing the RFICs.
Responsibilities
- Collaboration with system engineers and IC designers to acquire detailed knowledge of RFIC control requirements and communication protocol at data interface.
- Collaboration with PCB designer to clarify pin mapping requirements between FPGA board and RFIC evaluation board.
- Development of RTL code, including validation by simulation, to emulate functionality of baseband IC at control and data interfaces with RFIC.
- FPGA synthesis, place & route, and timing closure.
- Bring-up, debug, and validation of FGPA solution, both stand-alone and together with RFIC.
- Use of systematic approach, including version control and thorough documentation, to ensure reproducibility of all steps in development work.
- Providing expert guidance to others working on FGPA development.
Experience
- Strong digital design skills, including Verilog code development for implementation in FPGA
- Extensive experience with FPGA development tools (preferably Altera)
- Hands-on experience with bring-up and debug of FPGA solutions that use high-speed SerDes transceiver IP (preferably on Stratix 10 GX development board)
- Familiarity with testing of RFICs for wireless communication (preferred)
- Minimum BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent education/training background.
- Minimum of five years of experience in digital design for FPGA-based solutions
